Starting Over Fresh.

On February 16th, 2017 we were ending our night like we did every other Thursday night, unfortunately our night didn't end like any other. It was a little after 11 p.m. when the lights started to flicker, and we started to smell smoke. My husband walked outside to see what was going, as soon as he got outside he seen that the outside meter was on fire. That's how it all got started. After 10-15 minutes of fighting to keep the fire from spreading, it shot up through the wiring throughout the house and the attic was in flames. A few short minutes passed by an the entire house was filled with flames. Fast forward to skip over personal details.

Friday morning, it finally hit me. What we called home was no longer "home." It had just became an building containing our memories. My heart was bruised. A few hours passed, an the preacher came out to see my family and comfort us through what we endured. He generously contributed to helping my family find a new home, and to replace some of what we lost. A week later, we moved into our new home, and we're now in the process of replacing the things we lost with the help of our family, friends and our community. Whom, we are so so thankful for!

Here we are two weeks later, getting settled in our new house. Thanks to everyone that has contributed whether it was with kind encouraging words, donating food, clothes and furniture, or simply praying for us. Starting over wasn't we had initially intended for ourselves, but we're just so grateful for a second chance. We're blessed more than we deserve, and we're definitely counting our blessings. This is a new beginning for my family, and for myself. One, I will proudly take with a gracious heart.

Starting over has been rough on all of us, but it has been an great experience due to the help we've had. I never thought more of our community than I do now. Starting over has given us something to look forward to, something we must be nothing less than grateful for. There are some days I miss our old life, but then there's days like today. <3
